21 Days of Prayer
Church, Thanks for joining us for 21 Days of Prayer. We believe God wants to do BIG things in and through us this Fall and Prayer is the Foundation for those things to be built upon.
Blessings, Aaron Jayne
DAY 1 - 1 Chronicles 29:10-14
David's Prayer
10 Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly:
"O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever!
11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. 12 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
13 "O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
CONSIDER THE CONTEXT
God said of David – “He is a man after my own heart.” (Acts 13:21-23). David had a great passion to build a permanent residence for the Spirit of the Lord (The Temple). He spent his entire life striving after this goal. This didn’t make David a man after God’s own heart. It was the understanding David had of who God is and who he was in God’s eyes that made God so passionately gracious in David’s life.
Today’s prayer for Scripture comes from David himself. After putting out a request for resources to build the temple and receiving an overwhelming response from the people, David spoke one of the most passionate and powerful prayers in the Bible.
CONSIDER THE IMPLICATIONS
Take notice of how many times does David say "you" and "yours"? Now consider how many times does he say "me", "mine", "I", or "ours" in David's prayer.
In your prayer time for Coastline these next 21 days let's put the same level of emphasis on God's role vs our responsibility as we lift up our church and what God has planned for the upcoming launch of the fall semester of Life Groups at Coastline.
CONSIDER THE PRAYER
Lord - you are great... you are powerful... you are filled with splendor... you are glorious... your are strong... you are exalted... you are worthy of praise! Now God we ask that we be able to live a life where we believe everything comes from you and belongs to you. Our Church, our homes, our jobs, our health, our family our very existence - it's all yours. May we see you provide wealth and honor through the gatherings you orchestrate at Coastline and in our lives. May our community see your glory through the way we live our lives and may they hunger for that glory in their lives. May we be blessed with an abundance of your provision, power, splendor, glory and majesty as we move into a season of gathering together to be better connected to each other and to you. That very greatness lives in us now. May we see that greatness move more and more through us into our community.
Thank you for Coastline and for the light it shines on the hill in La Costa Valley.
Amen
